Hello. I’m Martin Young, and, as you’re about to discover, I ain’t much chop at About pages.
I grew up in Reading, England, and followed my family to Melbourne, Australia in the early 90s. Good decision. It’s nice here. I took a few years more than I should have to complete an Arts degree in Media/Cinema at La Trobe Bundoora (the beer was cold), but I got there in the end.
My spectacular career history includes (in no particular order) being an online marketing specialist, a yard boy, a security monitoring officer, a web content manager, a waiter, a technical writer, a barman, a resource analyst, unemployed, a business process analyst, and a movie extra (The Thin Red Line … four days’ work and all on the cutting room floor). I’ve set up intranets, written Policy and Procedure manuals, run away from exploding warplanes , spilt plates of food over customers, developed and managed web sites, called the cops out to hold-ups, bought Google Ads and driven some very very unsafe cars.
These days I’m settled as a web designer, currently working in-house on a start-up business within a financial services company. The fruits of our labours will be revealed later this year.
When I have some spare time I freelance, making simple web sites for small businesses and organisations.
